Welcome to School of Thought, a bi-monthly newsletter where co-authors and I share a spectrum of inspired ideas about learning.
“When we’re in the energy of true flow, we are allowing our soul blueprint to unfold via our physical body, in the precise and natural way that it wants to.” Beth Bridges
Think for a minute.
We talk about hustling as if it’s a bad thing. But really, what good things have already happened to you as a result of your hard work? There are likely a lot of things in your life that were achieved this way.
There is nothing wrong with hard work, or hustle or even grind -although I really hate the word grind.1
I was recently reading a post by the lovely author Elizabeth Gilbert on her Substack, Letters from Love. I so appreciate the concept for her blog- literally writing love letters.
In her post, she asked the question, “Why would you rather hustle than flow?”
The question has stuck with me.
It’s not because I wonder what it would be like to flow, or that I feel unwilling to hustle. It is because I feel that this is a false binary -as many binaries are.
We can and must do a little of both, and we rarely get to choose.
The Big Idea
No matter how much my heart wants School of Thought to bring to life its mission to gather schools and sectors for impactful learning and impact, what happens if it does not work out that way?
The question then becomes: what will I do instead?
Will I hustle or will I flow?
I will do both.
We have to live in the in between, recognizing our own rhythms and vibrations, but stepping it up when essential, necessary or simply logical.
There is nothing wrong with hustle, and there is nothing wrong with flow.
Making Big Ideas Usable
