The other day, I got three different notes, each one with the phrase “ASAP.”
I’m not sure what that says about me. But I do know what it got me thinking about.

We use ASAP, the As Soon As Possible abbreviation, so often that we don’t even hear it anymore.

But it carries weight: pressure, urgency, speed.

It pushes us into action before we’re ready, often before we’re connected. And in learning environments, from schools to teams to families, that speed can short-circuit the very things we’re trying to build.

Here’s what I’m learning:
Most things don’t need to happen immediately.
Most things actually benefit from waiting.
Especially when people are involved.

Because durable learning, like durable change, starts with human connection. And that doesn’t happen at the speed of urgency.
