Thank you for being here. School of Thought is a collective, a people-based learning community that is creating ripples of impact.
About School of Thought
School of Thought expands the definitions of school to be cross school and cross setting and about lifelong learning.
We do this through our blog, online learning gatherings and in person projects locally in Philadelphia. Learn more about us here.
Join the 1.K+ blog readers from all fifty states in the US except Arkansas (please forward to an Arkansasian?) and across the world (hello, Kenya! Japan! Australia!) to engage in fresh takes on learning and learning sciences and to get inspired to apply research grounded in human connection.
We share big ideas and how to make them usable.
We do this by:
Advancing knowledge and promoting the voices of aligned empirical work,
Building a community of thinkers in an increasingly divided world, and
Committing to and sharing ways to enable change with evidence-based ideas from learning sciences that you can use in towards an enhanced definition of ROI.
Help us move thoughts to action by sharing School of Thought with your community! If you have not had a chance to before, sign up for the School of Thought Blog and get bi-weekly treats in your inbox. Paid subscribers also receive additional posts, community care packages, and invitations to virtual meet ups featuring fresh ideas and people.
Who creates School of Thought?
My name is Jane, and I am a Philadelphia-based researcher, illustrator and community builder.
I have been everything from a student to a scientist, but find that I am most happy when I am co-creating with community. I also love creating visual narratives, which are available and commissionable here.
I love tinkering to find both contextualized and scalable solutions with others, which is really what this blog is all about.
In my experience, the people who do research and the people who engage practice are not in the same places, and even if they are, they are not speaking the same language. I want to find ways to connect the two.
In the last few years, I’ve worked with a team to co-found a school, illustrated a children’s book, and co-created a learning community.
I love the intersection of research and practice, data and visuals, school and community. My work has been featured in academic journals, here and here, and popular publications. I’ve gotten to tell the story of our work on podcasts and in the news.
But my favorite work is right here with you and the School of Thought.
I curate School of Thought, but it is co-created, co-authored and co-inspired by dozens of authors, educators, researchers, visualizers, entrepreneurs, and rethinkers from all over the world. This is a collective!
I would love for you to join us.

We are engaging in small-group dialogue on People Based Learning to give every person a chance to speak and be heard, listen and learn. Feel free to contact me.
This project begins with conversations we are conducting on zoom.
With the use of Cortico’s AI platform and transcriptions, we are using recording transcripts of the conversations to engage in sensemaking.
This is a human-led process that leverages AI tools to make sense of conversations–resulting in community-powered, nuanced analysis at scale.
From there we will be building a custom portals to memorialize conversations, amplify real voices, and provide proof of listening and resources we will co-create from our learning.
Would love to hear YOUR stories either in our conversations or in the chat👇.♥️
