“Learning is not the product of teaching. Learning is the product of the activity of learners, especially in relationship with others.”
— John Holt

Dear School of Thought readers,

A few weeks ago, I shared a post about how I learn, not just through content or curriculum, but through connection. When I shared the post on LinkedIn, a comment really stayed with me:

"What if we tracked the people who shaped our thinking the way we track grades or test scores?"

That comment lit a spark.

In the world of education and work, we’re used to measuring progress with test scores, attendance, or productivity metrics. But what if we started noticing and naming the relationships that fuel our growth?

What if we had Key People Indicators, that is, KPIs of a different kind?

Because learning is rarely a solo act.

It happens in conversation, in collaboration, in community.

So I’m sharing 6 People-Based Learning indicators I’ve noted to trace a real learning journey, not the kind captured by a transcript, but the kind that shapes how you think, who you are, and what you do next.

I’d love to hear what your People-Based Learning indicators are. Who helped you connect the dots? Whose story changed the way you saw your own? Whose connection opened something new for you?

Drop a comment, send me a note, or record your story and upload it here. I’m collecting real-life stories for a project, and yours might inspire someone else’s leap.

With gratitude for all the people who teach us by being themselves,
